Digimon Adventure Digivice 15th Anniversary (Wargreymon Ver.) Review

Hi guys!

Remember the iconic Digimon toys we admired back then, the Digivice (D2)?

This time, I wanna talk about the one in my collection, the 3000 unit limited edition Digivice 15th Anniversary Wargreymon Ver.

After 2 months of saving up from my pay from 2018, I managed to get this on time for my birthday. It's a nice gift for myself after all 😆 I've been admiring this for a very long time and only thinking of getting one if the type is worth it to get. I'm sort of a competitive collector myself back then, where I only think it's worth it to get a Digimon toys if it could dominate my local tournament scene.

But this one is a total beaut! A limited and complete version of the D2 as well. Too bad I couldn't get the whole set since it was out of my budget and my primary target was to obtain the whole MC's Digivice too.

First up, let's talk about the D2 Digivice electronic toy by Bandai.

Digivice is an LED electronic game, based on the Digivice that the Digi-Destined (the Chosen Children) used in the Digimon Adventure anime series. Basically, the goal of the gameplay is to travel across the areas in the map. You travel by walking with the Digivice (or just shake it). The pedometer inside the Digivice will count up how many step you've took. Every now and then while travelling across the area, you will encounter a wild Digimon. Battle them by spamming the A button, or have them Digivolve to the next stage for more power. You can also connect with another compatible Digivices or V-pets and Pendulums for battling with your friends.

Although this came out on 2018, Bandai reused the same mold from 2014 production of the Anime, Taichi and Yamato color. Classic Bandai.

Shake to go!

I won't talk much about the details of the gameplay here, so I'm just gonna proceed about my impression of this particular device since it;s just a review lol

Maybe some of you have experienced the original 1999 Japanese Digivice back then. There is a whole lot of differences between this 15th anniversary Digivice and the one from back then.

First, the area. There are more area in the latest one. Back then there were only 7 areas but in this one there are 10 areas to be explored, with the final area is based on the Digimon The Movie: Bokura No War Game (Children's War Game).

The particular area from the Bokura No War Game movie.

Then, there are the amount of Digimon. Back then, you can unlock up to 8 Digimon for Ver 1, and 15 for Ver 2, with the boss of each stage being able to be unlocked and used for battles foor Ver 2. In the latest installment, there are 11 Digimon that can be unlocked and used for battle. The type of Digimon available is different for each of the anniversary version. In this version, we have Agumon, Gabumon, Piyomon, Palmon, Patamon, Gomamon, Tentomon, Tailmon, Wizarmon, Zubamon and Meicoomon.

There are also difference in the Digimon stage. Every Digimon starts of from Rookie stage. There are only some Digimons that could evolve to a higher level. All of the Digi-Destined Digimons and Zubamon could Digivolve until Ultimate (Mega) level, with Agumon and Gabumon being able to evolve further up to Omegamon. Wizarmon doesn't have a Digivolution line and I haven't test out Meicoomon yet (I don't have much time to evolve everyone) 😖 Every 5 win unlocks the Digivolveable Digimon Adult stage, the next 10 wins unlocks Perfect stage and the next 15 wins unlock Ultimate stage.

This feels so complete with Omegamon in it.

There's Zubamon up to Durandamon as well, I love this guy!

Plus, some small things had been changed here. There are also the Crest option in the Menu to help the D3 15th Anniversary unlock Imperialdramon Paladin Mode. On the D2, it does nothing but plays some animation showing that the Digi-Destined Digimons are cheering.

Ok that settles out the differences between the original an the anniversary version of the D2. Now what makes this limited edition special from the rest?

The orange color on the body, if admired, have a slightly different shade from the normal Taichi color (in this post, the color might vary due to some editing and auto light balance lol). The engraving on the bezel are also highlighted with a gold marking, and there are the Crest Of Courage printed out on the screen.

The engraving colored in gold and the Crest Of Courage on the screen.

And the best part of this version? THE ANIMATION! There are a few gorgeous animation here, which is the startup from idle mode.

There's the happy wake up.

And there's the dozing off wake up...

There are also animation for the Digivolving sequence, which is only available for Digivolving into Wargreymon and Omegamon. They are based on the animation sequence from the TV series and I kid you not, they're sooo gorgeous.

Agumon, chou shinka....! WARGREYMON!!

Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon jogress to OMEGAMON!

The animation are only available for the Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon Color Ver., with Metalgarurumon Color Ver. only has digivolving sequence for Metalgarurumon and Omegamon.

Plus, there are also the Dark line for Agumon (it's Gabumon for the Metalgarurumon Color counterpart). The line goes from bad Agumon (there's not much difference, the bitart only shows Agumon with irritated eyes lol), BlackGreymon (although the bitart is similar to the normal Greymon), SkullGreymon and BlackWargreymon. Omegamon stage is not available in this line. To get to this line from the normal line, you'll have to lose for 2 battles, and win 2 battles to return to normal line.

Lol he's super PISSED.

Black(?)Greymon

Skullgreymon looking nice out here.

BlackWargeymon is just reverse bitart of normal Wargreymon.

Verdict: This is a must have for Digimon toys collector. The whole set comes with 1 Limited Edition Clear Color Digivolving Spirits Wargreymon and a super cool stand which plays the Japanese version of the Digimon Adventure opening 'Butter-Fly' by Wada Kouji and the Digivolution sequence OST 'Brave Heart' by Ayumi Miyazaki, and there are also some light show as well.

The set is pretty much like this.

Not only it is a limited edition, it's also the only Digivice toys with the most-accurate Digivolving sequence to the TV series. This is a true complete memorial for a nostalgia fans. Since it's a limited edition set, the price might rise soon in the future, well, that depends on if there re still any person left who are still into this lol. This is truly, one grateful purchase I've done. Do leave a comment if you have any particular question about this device , everyone's welcomed!

Aite, that's all, see you again!!

P/S: I might be more active this year, I'll be reviewing stuff from my collection, and if I'm good enough, I might make a better guide for the Digivices and V-Pets I have in my collection 😝

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
